Auracast At The OAT.

Angkor Audiology is proud to sponsor Rolla’s first public Auracast broadcast system at the Ozark Actor’s Theatre.

People with hearing loss may find large venues such theaters, churches, and conference rooms challenging, even with hearing aids. Large assistive listening systems exist but due to exorbitant costs of installation many venues remain assistive-listening-free. Auracast is a new generation of wireless audio that could significantly improve how we listen.

Unlike traditional Bluetooth, which typically creates a connection between individual devices, Auracast uses a broadcast model which allows one audio source to broadcast sound to multiple compatible devices, such as hearing aids, implanted devices, and earbuds. Compatible hearing aids can tune into available broadcasts and receive rich sound quality directly to the listener.

Not all hearing aids support Auracast. Compatibility depends on the specific hearing-aid model, Bluetooth technology, firmware, and connected devices. People considering new hearing aids should ask their Audiologist or Hearing Care Provider about Auracast and hearing aid compatibility.
